Pre-Surgery Thoughts 2: Friends

It's 2.20 am and I have to be up at 6am. I just want to write about how thankful and grateful I am to have such caring, thoughtful and sweet friends who have called, texted, seen me in person and wished me well for my surgery and recovery and have sent words of comfort my way to calm my nerves before surgery. I'm quite nervous -- more so in the moments leading up to the surgery. The anticipation I would feel before the surgery, the rapid, uncontrollable heart beats and fast breathing, the smell of the sterilized operating theatre, the sight of doctors and nurses in their surgical outfits wearing masks and hairnets, concealing almost every human feature except for their sharp, piercing eyes, weighing down on me to ensure I've fully succumbed to the general anaesthesia after they've strapped on a suffocating (I don't want to scare myself) mask over my nose and mouth and asked me to count backwards from ten.

I'm glad for the well wishes and messages. I can't wait to see my friends tomorrow. <3
